ICE Score Calculator

ICE = Impact × Confidence × Ease. Each component is rated on a 1–10 scale. Higher scores indicate ideas that should be prioritized first. ICE is simpler than RICE because it skips an explicit Reach term, making it faster for early-stage prioritization.

ICE has 3 inputs (Impact, Confidence, Ease) on a 1–10 scale; RICE has 4 (Reach, Impact, Confidence, Effort) and treats Reach as a real number. ICE is faster but loses sensitivity to how many users are actually affected. Use ICE for quick triage and RICE for cross-team prioritization meetings.

Impact captures how much each user benefits if the idea ships. Anchor your scale: 10 = "core to product-market fit", 7 = "significant lift to a key metric", 5 = "useful but optional", 3 = "nice to have", 1 = "marginal". Be conservative — most ideas land at 5 or below.

Confidence is how sure you are that your Impact and Ease estimates are right. Use 10 for ideas backed by data or user research, 5 for educated guesses, and 1 for pure hunches. This is what stops a high-Impact idea from running away with the score when the team is just guessing.

Ease is the inverse of effort — 10 means trivial (one engineer, an afternoon), 1 means months of work across multiple teams. If your team estimates in story points, you can map roughly: 1pt → 9, 3pt → 7, 8pt → 4, 21pt+ → 1.
