FAQ

How often should I update the product roadmap?
Review and update statuses monthly to keep stakeholders informed. Re-evaluate high-level themes quarterly to align with changing business priorities and market conditions.
What is the difference between a theme and an initiative?
A theme represents the 'why' or the high-level focus area (e.g., Mobile First). An initiative is the 'what'—the specific project or feature set that supports that theme (e.g., iOS Push Notifications).
How do I handle unplanned requests that disrupt the roadmap?
Maintain a separate backlog for opportunistic requests. When a high-priority request arrives, use this template to visualize what current initiative must be delayed or dropped to accommodate it.
Should I share this roadmap publicly with customers?
Yes, sharing a high-level version of your roadmap builds trust. Planet Roadmap's public portal allows you to show what's 'Planned' and 'In Progress' without revealing sensitive internal details.
